Hello Everyone,

I came across a blog, which is produced by Lon Thornburg, an educator and an assistive technology specialist and trainer. She posted a thought provoking video and wrote: “Whether you have seen this before or not, it makes good sense to listen to it now and then to remind all of us in education, advocacy and therapy, how we should relate to those with special needs. I hope it challenges you as you step into a new year of service.”
I felt compelled to respond to Lon so I wrote: Thanks for posting such a thought provoking, inspirational video. As a speech-language pathologist, I do relate with how we become so strongly focused on using our tricks and tools that we overlook the precious person who is working so hard to ‘perform for us’, consequently helping us to feel good about our job well done. This message brings the focus back to the person – their life – and how they are our teacher.
