EARLY LITERACY CLASSROOM GAMES
Embrace, inspiration, emotion, connection, enlightenment…literacy gives this to me.

Hi Everyone,
What a beautiful purpose it is to help children learn to love literacy. It starts early…when babies chew on vinyl books, marvel at bright shapes, and smile and wiggle when you sing a song. Toddlers love to look at their favorite picture books again and again…and cover their hands in finger paint as they make their masterpiece all over the table. By preschool, children become a part of their own magical story and scribble notes that mean something very important. As children emerge into kindergarten, their malleable minds experience how their words are made up of parts. In fact, their name starts with a special sound! I wonder how many jumps it takes to hop through the syllables in your name? How else can we play with our words?
I have attached a short video that outlines four ideas for enhancing your students’ early literacy skills.

- Sound Awareness: Treasure Hunt
- Sound Awareness: Farmer Brown
- Syllable Awareness: Fog Hop
- Word Blending: Magic Match
Have fun on your word adventures!!
