The Ohio Department of Education’s (ODE) Office for Exceptional Children is collaborating with schools to identify methods for calculating service-provider caseload rations.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can impact a child’s brain and break a parent’s heart. However, access to appropriate and effective support services can provide a child with a second chance to thrive, access education, and fully participate in his or her life.

Hiring new graduates, accepting practicum students, and accessing assistants are helpful strategies for bringing services to schools. However, districts struggle to do this when they do not have sufficient access to a qualified SLP who can provide the mandated supervision on a regular basis.

Technology, research, and a more fluid exchange of information means that new treatments and a better understanding about language and language disabilities are constantly being developed.
